Antrim, NH : Two Hillsboro residents killed in a car crash on Route 9 in Antrim on Saturday night, Nov 21, 2015

Two Hillsboro residents are dead following a car crash in Antrim on Saturday night.

New Hampshire State Police said Liam Flaherty, 18, of Farmington, N.Y., was traveling west on Route 9 when he lost control of his vehicle in the area of Route 31, went off the right side of the roadway, came back onto it and crossed the center line into the eastbound lane.

There, Flaherty’s vehicle crashed head-on into a car driven by Janet Withington, 67, of Hillsboro. James Bouchard, 63, also of Hillsboro, was Withington’s passenger.

State police responded to the scene at 6:45 p.m., where Bouchard died of his injuries. Withington was transported with life-threatening injuries to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and she died shortly after.

Flaherty did not appear to have been injured in the crash, police said. Both vehicles were totaled, and the Antrim Police Department, the state police and Antrim Fire & Rescue assisted on the scene.

The State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (C.A.R.), along with Antrim and state police, did not immediately find that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Police didn’t indicate whether road conditions or speed were factors. They also didn’t say whether Flaherty would be charged.

Multiple calls and emails for additional information were not returned as of press time Sunday.

C.A.R. is continuing to investigate the crash.
