PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL : Panama City man dies after collision with tractor trailer on Tuesday, 11th February, 2020
One person is dead following a two-car accident in Panama City Beach early Tuesday morning.Just before 6 a.m., 29-year old Christopher T. Thomas of Panama City was killed when the 1997 Toyota Camry he was driving was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by 38-year-old Reginal Sidney of Humble, Texas.
According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Thomas was traveling northbound on Allison Avenue and stopped at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and Allison Ave.
Sidney was traveling eastbound on Highway 98 in the outside lane when Thomas failed to yield the right of way for Sidney and attempted to make a left turn from Allison Ave. onto Highway 98.
The front of Sidney’s tractor trailer struck the left side of Thomas’s car. Both vehicles traveled into the grass median and came to final rest, the release said.
Thomas died at the scene. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
