One person is in critical condition after a suspect who eluded police caused a crash in Reno on Sunday afternoon.
The crash happened near the intersection of S. Rock Blvd. & Mill St. just after 4:30 p.m. after two occupants had to be extricated from their vehicle after the suspect struck them at a high-rate of speed.
The suspect fled the scene of the crash, but was taken into custody at Rock Park along the Truckee River a short time later, according to authorities.
Reno police say they attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspect's vehicle in the area of Neil Rd. and Airway Dr. earlier in the day, but the male suspect fled the scene. Police did not ensue a chase due to public safety concerns.
Two victims were in the car that was struck by the suspect. One victim was initially transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, but has since been upgraded to critical. The second person was treated for minor injuries.
Police say that DUI for both alcohol and marijuana were involved in the incident.
