Redding, CA : Fiery accident between two pick-up trucks that blocked lanes of Highway 299 on Monday afternoon September 22nd 2014

A fiery accident between two pick-up trucks that blocked lanes of Highway 299 around noon today has been cleared and the road reopened, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch reports. Firefighters quickly quashed a fire triggered by the accident after the two vehicles, one towing a boat, collided about one mile west of Deschutes Road shortly before 12 p.m. An ambulance en route to the scene was canceled by dispatchers. The wreck initially blocked traffic in both directions, but emergency responders were able to reopen one lane within a few minutes of arriving on scene. Both lanes have since reopened.
