One person was killed and two others injured in a three-car crash on Route 109 in Medfield Tuesday afternoon, Medfield police said.

WCVB-TV reported that the dead individual was the driver of one car, and the drivers of the other two cars were transported to area hospitals with injuries. The were no passengers in any of the involved vehicles.

According to WHDH-TV, Medfield police had made a traffic stop on Route 109 near the Shaw's Supermarket when a Jeep passed them at a high rate of speed. Moments later officers heard a crash and investigating, found the three smashed cars.

The crash happened near the intersection of Hatter Hill Road and Pederzini Drive in Medfield.

An accident reconstruction team responded to the scene, and the crash remains under investigation.
