Patchogue, NY : Pedestrian hit by 4 cars and killed while crossing Long Island road on Saturday, December 5, 2015
Police say a man crossing a Long Island road was hit by four different cars, leaving him dead and investigators looking for two of the vehicles.
The Suffolk County Police Department says the pedestrian was walking across Route 112 in Patchogue around 3 a.m. Saturday when a northbound 2015 Toyota 4Runner collided with him. Then the other cars hit him as well on the arterial road.
The 4Runner's 24-year-old driver and one of the other drivers stayed on the scene. But police say the other two motorists drove off.
Police say the pedestrian died at the scene. He's tentatively been identified as a 64-year-old Patchogue man, but medical examiners haven't yet made a positive identification, and his name hasn't been released.
No other injuries were reported.
