LITTLETON, CO : Double fatal crash began as chase involving stolen car on Wednesday, 6th February 2019

The intersection of South Santa Fe Drive and Mineral Avenue in Littleton was closed for hours following a crash killed two people after a chase of a stolen vehicle involving Douglas County deputies, the Sheriff's Office said.

One female is in custody and another suspect is at-large, the Sheriff's Office said."We are in the process of examining a multitude of video footage and determining all applicable charges and will have more to release tomorrow," the Sheriff's Office said.

Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, a deputy spotted a Jeep traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 85 near Daniels Park Road, as well as another vehicle ahead of the Jeep, which was also speeding. The deputy was only able to pursue the Jeep, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The lead vehicle the deputy observed speeding is believed to have caused the fatal accident, according to the Sheriff's Department.
