Identified as victim of fatal crash

Police in Dayton said one person is dead and another injured after a serious crash Saturday night.The crash happened just before 8:45 p.m. on Hoover Avenue at Goodlow Avenue.

Officers said it appears that the male driver did not see road closed signs in a construction zone and slammed head-on into a large piece of construction equipment.

The driver was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries. The female passenger, Kadriyyah Harvey, 33, of Trotwood was pronounced dead at the scene.

People who live near the crash scene said they heard a loud boom and then noticed that the car had crashed.

Police said they working to see if alcohol or speed may have played a role in the crash. However, they said that if you are not familiar with the area and did not know that the road was closed due to construction, then someone could become disoriented.

The crash remains under investigation.
