Tolland, CT : Man seriously injured in I-84 truck collision early Monday morning, August 1, 2016

A man was seriously injured after a tractor-trailer and a box truck collided on Interstate 84 early this morning.

According to fire officials, first responders were called to the eastbound lane of I-84 near Exit 67 around 4 a.m.

The driver of the box truck was injured and trapped in his vehicle, according to Fire Chief John Littell.
Firefighters worked “extremely hard” to extricate the man from the wreckage, and he was transported to an area hospital, Littell said.

The crash closed a section of the highway, backing up pre-rush hour commuters.
Littell said the scene was cleared shortly before 6 a.m.
