Grand Junction, CO : Cops looking for driver who caused truck crash on Wednesday September 28 2016
Authorities on Wednesday still had not located the driver of a car they say caused an accident in which a truck overturned and spilled some 4,000 gallons of oil in Rifle.
The truck’s driver, Barry Pinney, 32, of Grand Junction, reported an injury, but Colorado State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid said he didn’t believe Pinney was taken to a hospital.
Reid said Pinney’s truck was pulling a tanker trailer north at mile marker 2 on Colorado Highway 13 at 5:48 a.m. Tuesday when a Saturn sedan heading south drifted into the northbound lanes and struck the truck.
The car began to spin and the truck ran over the car’s passenger side from the rear toward the front before jack-knifing and hitting a guardrail. The truck overturned onto the passenger’s side off the road, and the tanker overturned onto the driver’s side, ending up partially on the road’s shoulder. The car’s driver left the scene.
