Ellsworth, ME : Trenton man injured in ultra-light crash remains hospitalized on Saturday September 3 2016

Floyd Ober, 67, of Trenton, who suffered serious injuries Saturday morning when the ultra-light plane he was piloting failed to clear a barn, was still in the intensive care unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor on Sunday.

Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Archer said on Sunday that Ober was “alert and responsive” but would remain in intensive care for the time being. Archer did not have a condition report.

Ober struck a barn at the south end of his property Saturday as he made a pass over the landing strip near his residence. No one else was in the aircraft.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, Ober sustained “significant injuries” to his arms and legs. He was taken by LifeFlight to EMMC for treatment.

The accident at 697 Oak Point Road occurred at 9:11 a.m. A horse in the barn sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
