Union County, N.C : Pedestrian hit by a car Highway 601 near Monroe on Saturday night, Sep 5, 2015

The family of a pedestrian hit by a car near Monroe over the weekend is asking anyone with information to come forward.

Corey Baker was seriously injured while walking along Highway 601 Saturday night when two on-coming vehicles hit him.

The driver of the first car that knocked him over called 911 but the driver of the second car that hit him didn't stop.

“I don't see how anybody could do that and just run off and leave him,” the victim’s mother, Barbara Baker, said. “It's just a bad situation.”

The car that left the scene is a dark-colored sedan, possibly a Honda Civic, troopers said.
