East Hampton, NY : Nicholas Louvel, a Manhattan-based filmaker died in a car crash in East Hampton early Thursday, Sep 24, 2015

A Manhattan director and documentarian who once worked with actress Natalie Portman died early Thursday following a car crash in East Hampton, officials said.

Nicholas Louvel, 34, was driving along Route 114 — about 110 miles from Manhattan — when he lost control of his 2005 Honda Accord, skidded off the highway and slammed into several trees about 1 a.m., officials said.

He was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he later died, officials said.

Cops were trying to figure the cause of the single-car crash.

Louvel wrote and directed “Domino One” in 2005 that starred Oscar winner Portman and Steve Guttenberg of “Three Men and a Baby” fame, according to Louvel’s IMDb page.

The Santa Monica, Calif., native also worked as a producer, production assistant and technical advisor on several productions.

His documentary, “The Uncondemned,” about a group of attorneys who prosecuted rape as a crime against humanity in 1997, was scheduled to be screened at the Hamptons International Film Festival in October, officials said.

Festival organizers were mourning Louvel’s death.

"His passion and filmmaking will be truly missed and our thoughts are with his family and friends during this tragic time," they said in a statement.
