North Naples, FL : 73-year-old Collier County woman injured after a crash at Goodlette-Frank and Vanderbilt Beach roads on Saturday, Nov 14, 2015
A 73-year-old Collier County woman is in critical condition after the car she was riding in ran a red light and struck two other vehicles in North Naples on Saturday.
The crash occurred around 4 p.m. at Goodlette-Frank and Vanderbilt Beach roads, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
David Carey, 73, was driving a Chevrolet Caprice north on Goodlette-Frank and ran the red light at Vanderbilt Beach Road, reports said. His car struck both a Dodge Ram and a Toyota Tundra that were heading east along Vanderbilt Beach.
Sharon Carey, a passenger in the Chevy, was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers in critical condition. David Carey received minor injuries and was transported to NCH North Naples Hospital. Both were wearing seat belts, reports said.
The driver of the Toyota also received minor injuries. The driver of the Dodge, Manuel Hernandez Martinez of Collier County, was not injured in the crash, the FHP reports. Both were wearing seat belts.
David Carey was cited for running a red light. Martinez was cited for driving without a license.
The crash is not believed to be alcohol related.
