Jersey City, NJ : Seven people injured afer a three-vehicle crash in Jersey City on Saturday, April 16, 2016

A three-vehicle crash in Jersey City this afternoon sent seven people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, city spokesman Jennifer Morrill said.

At 12:26 p.m., a Chevy Impala was going the wrong way on County Road, a one-way road, approaching Tonnelle Ave. when it collided with a box truck, which "T-boned" the Impala, Morrill said.

She said the box truck then struck a Ford Mustang.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they saw that the 28-year-old female driver of the Impala and a 33-year-old man in the front passenger seat, both from Pennsylvania, were trapped in the car, according to Morill.

A 15-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl who had been sitting in the Impala's backseat were able to exit the car themselves before police arrived, she said.

Morrill said firefighters and police cut off the roof to the Impala and all four of its doors in order to extricate the trapped woman and man.

In terms of injuries, the woman had stomach pain and difficulty breathing, while the teenager had a "scrap on his back." The nature of the man's injuries and 3-year-old's injuries, if any, aren't known at this time.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Jersey City man who was driving the box truck suffered leg pain, according to Morill.

The 60-year-old male driver of the Mustang had significant injuries to his leg, and a 49-year-old female passenger in that car suffered from "general pain," the city spokeswoman said. Both are from Parsippany.

All seven people were taken to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health for their injuries, none of which were life-threatening, she said.

The driver of the Impala was issued summonses for careless driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street, and the driver of the box truck was issued a summons for not having insurance paperwork.
