St. Tammany Parish, LA : One person injured after hit-and-run crash on I-12 in St. Tammany Parish on Tuesday morning, March 17, 2015

State Troopers are investigating a hit-and-run on Interstate 12 involving an 18-Wheeler this morning in St. Tammany Parish.

Officers say that an 18-wheeler and a small black car were both traveling westbound on Interstate 12 when the small black car attempted to change lanes. The small black car suddenly merged into the lane occupied by the 18-wheeler causing the 18-wheeler to slam on his brakes and take evasive action. The force of the heavy breaking cause the load on the trailer to shift forward and hit the cab.

The driver of the tractor trailer sustained only minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The small black car fled the scene towards US 190.
