Bradford, VT : Police officer injured in crash on State Road 25 and Chelsea Road in Bradford on Friday morning, January 2, 2015

An Orford police officer was injured in a crash Friday morning in Bradford.
Authorities from the Vermont State Police said the crash happened just before noon on State Road 25 and Chelsea Road.

Investigators said a truck traveling west on S.R. 25 was turning onto Chelsea Road when it struck an Orford police vehicle traveling east.

The driver of the truck, Jacob Knapp, 18, of Bradford, said he did not see the car.

The officer was identified as Kenneth Schaffer, 47, of Corinth, and he suffered a hand injury. He was taken to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for treatment.

A preliminary investigation found that Knapp turned in front of Schaffer and caused the wreck.
