ALABAMA, NY : One injury after head-on collision in Alabama on Monday, August 7, 2017
One man was sent to Erie County Medical Center following a two-car, head-on collision Sunday afternoon caused by an alleged medical issue.
A car carrying two people was driving westbound on Ledge Road in the Town of Alabama when the driver noticed an eastbound car coming from the hayfield on the left-hand-side toward it, a sheriff’s deputy on the scene related. The westbound car came to a stop but the eastbound car drove over the road, colliding with the other car and continuing into a ravine.
The two drivers in the westbound car were OK and did not need medical attention.
According to the deputy, the people in the westbound car noticed a man slumped over the steering wheel as he collided with them and continued down the ravine.
Mercy Flight was called but later cancelled, and the man was transported by ambulance to ECMC.
The deputy said that they were communicating with the man at the scene and he seemed to be in stable condition.
