ANDERSON COUNTY, SC : Coroner identifies motorcyclist killed in crash on Wednesday, 24th March 2021

The coroner responded Wednesday evening to a deadly crash in Anderson County.

The crash was reported just after 5:30 p.m. on the South Carolina Highway 28 Bypass near Monitor Drive, according to the Highway Patrol website.

Sky 4 flew over the scene and showed the accident involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck.

The coroner has identified the victim as Austin Neal Shirley, 50, of Anderson.

Shirley was traveling west on his Harley Davidson when a pickup truck was turning from a private drive to go west and both collided, according to Corporal Matt Southern, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to Southern, a jeep traveling east then struck Shirley.

He was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene, Southern said.

According to Southern, the driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with injuries.

The driver of the jeep was not injured, Southern said.
