PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, WI : 3 injured in crash tell officials they jumped from moving vehicle on Wednesday, 31st August, 2016
Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin
Grant County deputies determined three people involved in a crash Sunday lied about jumping out of a moving vehicle after the driver displayed a gun, according to a release.Deputies responded to Crossing Rivers Health Care in Prairie du Chien around 6:20 a.m. for three people who were being treated for injuries, officials said.
The three people initially said they were getting a ride from a bar in Platteville because one of them lost their keys to their vehicle, according to the release.
The two men said an unknown driver took a person to Prairie du Chien, dropped that person off and then started taking them back to Avoca, officials said. During the trip back to Avoca, the driver showed the three people a gun and told them to get out of the vehicle, which is when they all reportedly jumped from the vehicle while it was moving.
Investigators determined Ryan Salis, 22, of Prairie du Chien, was driving a 2007 Chevy Cobalt north on County Road C when the car went off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle hit a tree, spun around and hit another tree, which stopped it from going into the Wisconsin River, investigators said.
Salis, 21-year-old Elizabeth Arneson, of Monroe, and 20-year-old Jerry Wilder Jr., of Avoca, got out and walked north on County Road C, according to the release. They eventually woke a resident in the area, who took them to the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
