WINCHESTER, VA : On-duty Winchester police officer killed in vehicle crash on Saturday, 24th November 2018

A city police officer was killed Saturday night in single-vehicle crash while responding to a call, according to a city news release.

Officer Hunter Edwards, 30, died as a result of a crash that occurred about 10:50 p.m. on West Jubal Drive. He was responding to a report of a fight just a few blocks away on South Loudoun Street.

Winchester Police Department Chief John Piper addressed officers in the early morning hours today at Winchester Medical Center, where they had gathered to pay their respects to their beloved colleague.

“This is going to be a very difficult time for Hunter’s family and for each of us. Take care of yourselves; take care of each other.”
