Jonesboro, AR : Man cited following SUV vs motorcycle crash on Monday night, April 18, 2016

Jonesboro police cited a man following a crash Monday night that sent a motorcyclist to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to the crash report, 48-year-old Kenneth Smith of Jonesboro was attempting to make a left hand turn onto Melrose Avenue from East Johnson when he pulled his SUV into the path of a 2002 Suzuki motorcycle driven by 19-year-old Brian E. Elliott, also of Jonesboro.

Smith reportedly told police “he did not see the motorcycle” and that was why he made the turn.

He then began complaining of chest pains and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. While at the hospital, police requested a blood test be completed.

Officers were unable to speak with Elliott due to his injuries.

He was taken by ambulance to the Arkansas State University campus where a helicopter picked him up and flew him to Regional One Health in Memphis.

According to the report, Elliott was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Officers cited Smith with failure to yield and driving on a suspended driver’s license.
