Middleton, MA : Two dead after fiery car crash in Middleton on Sunday evening, October 19, 2014
Crews are investigating a fiery crash that resulted in the deaths of two men in Middleton Sunday night.
The crash led to a building fire after the sports car became engulfed in flames on Peabody Street just after 6 p.m.
"One of the houses here called us, let us know the accident happened. They heard the car coming, they heard the screech, they heard the bang, they saw the flames," said Chief James Digianvittorio of the Middleton Police Department.
The two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials said that speeding could have been a factor but they are still investigating the cause.
"We believe it hit a rock wall, a tree, and that's what accident reconstruction will find out," Digianvittorio said.
Neighbors said it's a car they've seen around the neighborhood.
"It's a terrible tragedy, our hearts go out to the families. It's a terrible tragedy. It's a small town, it will have an impact I'm sure," said Chief Frank Twiss of the Middleton Fire Department.
