New Orleans, LA : SUV driver dies after driving into rear of an 18-wheeler in eastern New Orleans on Wednesday, Aug 12, 2015

New Orleans police are investigating a traffic fatality.

The 10 a.m. Wednesday accident happened in eastern New Orleans.

Police say the driver of an 18-wheeler was stopped in the westbound travel lane of New Orleans' Almonaster Boulevard. The driver of a black Ford Expedition crashed into the rear of the trailer. The driver of the Expedition, identified as a 38-year-old man, died on the scene. His name has not been released.

The truck driver was not injured during the crash.

What caused the driver of the Expedition to drive into the 18-wheeler was unknown. An investigation is under way.
