Shasta County, CA : Motorcycle rider injured in crash on northbound I-5 Saturday on August 30, 2014
Firefighters went to the Vollmers area north of Redding this afternoon where a motorcycle caught fire following a solo crash on northbound Interstate 5.
At 1:22 p.m., the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection reported the fire was confined to the roadway and did not spread to vegetation. Other responding units were canceled. A truck driver extinguished the fire, the California Highway Patrol website says.
The motorcycle was resting partially in the No. 2 slow lane, according to scanner reports.
The motorcycle rider suffered a possible right ankle fracture and road rash, firefighters said.
A traffic slowdown is being reported on northbound I-5 leading up to the crash.
