BERRIEN CENTER, MI : BH woman dies after car crash on Sunday, 6th November 2016
Police are continuing their investigation into a one-vehicle crash Sunday that claimed the life of a Benton Harbor woman.
State Police said Ruby Johnson, 84, was killed when a car went off the road on U.S. 31 south of Lake Chapin Road in Berrien Township and rolled several times.
It happened at about 6:20 p.m., police said.
In a news release, police stated that Johnson was one of five people in the car. The others were the driver, a 19-year-old female, and three female passengers ages 18, 18 and 15.
All five people were taken by Medic 1 to Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, where Johnson was pronounced dead.
Sgt. Ryan Schoonveld said information was not available to him Tuesday regarding the names of the other four people or the extent of their injuries.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Berrien Township Fire Department and Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.
As of Tuesday, police had not been able to determine what caused the crash.
