Hildebrand Road, SC : Fort Wayne man was dead early Friday in a crash on U.S. 33 on August 15th 2014

A Fort Wayne man was killed early Friday in a crash on U.S. 33 near Hildebrand Road, according to a statement from the Allen County Sheriff’s Department. A man from South Carolina, who was not identified, was driving a van with a trailer south on U.S. 33 shortly after 3:15 a.m. when he went off the road, overcorrected and went across the center line into oncoming traffic, the statement said. It said a Fort Wayne man driving a car north on U.S. 33, who also was not identified, swerved to avoid the van, but the van struck the car on the driver’s side and the car's driver died at the scene. The driver of the van is in good condition, the statement said. No passengers were in either vehicle, and the driver of the car was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, the statement said.
