Gove City, KS: Three dead, Three injured after SUV rolls along I-70 on Tuesday, August 4th 2015
Three people died in an accident just after 11a.m. on Tuesday in Gove County.The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2003 Chevy Suburban driven by Mark A. Groom, 56, Lees Summit, MO., was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of Kansas 23.The driver cut off another vehicle. The Suburban swerved to the right going off into the north ditch and began sliding to the right and then to the left. The Suburban spun around crossing both westbound lanes of traffic and rolled multiple times.Groom and passengers Margaret K. Groom, 56, and Richard E. Nieweg, 85, both of Lees Summit, MO., were pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Schmidt Funeral Home.Three children under the age of 11 in the Suburban were transported to Wesley Medical Center.A 6-year-old and Margaret K.Groom were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
