Driver dies after car travels off roadway into retention pond

A man died from his injuries early Saturday morning after a car accident in Hillsborough County.According to the report, Christian Simancas, 29, was traveling northbound on the ramp from westbound I-4 toward northbound I-75 when for unknown reasons, the car swerved to the right and left the roadway.
Investigators say the car struck a tree and then overturned on its roof and traveled into a retention pond.

Simancas was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger, Heidi Reece, sustained minor injuries.
Florida Highway Patrol officials say they will continue to investigate the accident.
