HUMBOLDT, KS : Alcohol suspected in violent Kansas crash that injured 3 teens on Thursday, 4th January 2024

An eastern Kansas sheriff's office believes a 16-year-old driver was speeding and under the influence of alcohol when a car lost control and became airborne before rolling multiple times, injuring the driver and two passengers.

Allen County deputies responded at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday after an automated phone app called 911 to report the crash, which happened on Hawaii Road about five miles east of Humboldt.

"Allen County dispatchers could hear a person or persons moaning but otherwise got no response from anyone at the crash scene," the sheriff's office said in a release.
