KANSAS CITY, MO : An Alexandria man was injured in a crash in Clay County on Sunday, July 9, 2017

An Alexandria man was injured in a Sunday night crash in Clay County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a 2001 Buick driven by Timothy F. Gates, 53, of Alexandria, and a 2016 Freightliner driven by Stephen J. Keen, 54, of Independence, were northbound on Interstate 35 at the 8-mile marker at 8:45 p.m. when they collided. After impact, the Buick traveled into the median and struck the cable barrier before coming to rest.

Gates was taken by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital with minor injuries.

The patrol said both drivers were wearing seat belts.
