Tigard, OR : Woman hit, killed by tow truck on Highway 99W in Tigard on Wednesday, January 21. 2015

A 31-year-old West Linn woman was hit and killed by a tow truck early Wednesday morning on Highway 99W in Tigard, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said.

Emergency crews were called out around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday on reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian in the northbound lanes of the Southwest Pacific Highway (Hwy 99W) at 71st Avenue.

Witnesses told police that Krista Nielsen may have stepped off the sidewalk in front of the tow truck.

Sheriff's deputies closed the northbound lanes of the highway for several hours to investigate the crash. Officials said the driver is cooperating with crash investigators.
