QUINCY, IL : Grain truck crash closes U.S. 24 at Ill. 96 on Tuesday, 2nd October 2018

Four people died in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon that closed U.S. 24 for several hours between North 60th Street and Ill. 96.

Illinois State Police District 20 reports a 2007 Chevrolet 15-passenger bus driven by Gay L. Ivey, 57 of Perry, was eastbound on U.S. 24, approximately one-half mile east of Ill. 96, at 3:29 p.m. and a 1996 Freightliner four-axle truck driven by Parker A. Fuller, 20, of Ursa was westbound on U.S. 24 at the same location.

ISP said the bus crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Freightliner.

Ivey, and three passengers — Shirley A. Gooding, 85, Dennis R. Kadow, 63, and Sally E. Stoermer, 71, all of Camp Point — died as a result of the crash.
