Albany, NY : Four women, infant escape fiery crash along I-80 on Saturday, July 2, 2017
Four women and an infant escaped safely Saturday afternoon when the car they were occupying burst into flames along Interstate 80 in Hope Township.
The female driver just after 3:30 p.m. was headed west in a blue Nissan Versa at mile marker 11.8 when the engine ignited, according to a witness at the scene. The driver, as well as three other passengers and the baby, all from New York, got out onto the center median of the highway by the time crews arrived at the scene.Traffic at the time slowed around the burning vehicle, the witness reported. The highway remained open by New Jersey State Police as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
Responding was the Hope Fire Dept. and the Blairstown Ambulance Corps. Fire officials could not immediately be reached for more information Sunday about the blaze.
