Griffin, GA : Officer suffers minor injuries in car collision on Monday, June 19, 2017

A Carrollton Police Department detective was injured Monday when the unmarked vehicle he was driving was struck by a car pulling out of Paradise Apartments, according to police.

The officer’s injuries were described by the police department as minor.

The detective, who was not identified, was traveling south on Stewart Street when another vehicle pulled out in front of the officer, striking his car, according to police.

“Our detective suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital,” said police Chief Joel Richards. “The other driver did leave the scene of the accident but was then located. Because it is a city vehicle, we do not investigate our own accidents.”

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating. Any charges made will be reported by the state patrol.

“It does appear that our vehicle is totalled,” said Richards. “I am not a body shop expert but I don’t see them repairing the damages. Also, our officer was released by the hospital.”
