The motorcyclist who died after a collision with a Sun Metro bus Wednesday was allegedly speeding and ran a red light, police officials said.
Edward A. Stanton, 24, of El Paso, was allegedly speeding northbound on George Dieter Drive on a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle when he ran the red light at the intersection of Bob Mitchell Drive at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
He struck the bus that was traveling southbound on George Dieter and making a left turn onto Bob Mitchell, according to police. Stanton was taken to Del Sol Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The bus driver and three passengers on the bus were not injured, police said.
Police said that the collision was under investigation by the police Special Traffic Investigations Unit.
Officials with Sun Metro, the city's public transportation system, also will conduct an internal investigation.
