JOHNSON COUNTY, KS : An Aberdeen, Ohio, man was involved in an accident on Wednesday, June 14, 2017

An Aberdeen, Ohio, man was involved in an accident on an Illinois highway Wednesday, according to police reports.

Abdirashid B. Mohamed, 32, of Aberdeen, was driving a 2007 Freightliner northbound in the left lane on an I-57 in Johnson County, at about 4 p.m., following a 2008 Ford Explorer driven by John A. Sullivan, 52, of Anna, Ill., according to reports.

The Ford apparently slowed for backed-up construction traffic, officials said. The Freightliner’s driver, Abdirashid B. Mohamed, failed to slow in time and swerved to the left to avoid striking the Ford, the accident report indicates. The Freightliner still struck the left rear corner of the Ford with its right front corner. The Freightliner continued past and came to rest in the median. The Ford came to rest on the right shoulder.

Abdirashid B. Mohamed and his passenger, Mohamed A. Mohamud, 33, were not injured.
