Six people were treated Monday morning after a Paulding County, Ohio, sheriff's department van was struck by a car near Grover Hill and overturned, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
A car driven by Mark Rolston, 49, of Reed City, Michigan, was headed north on Ohio 638 about 8 a.m., approaching the intersection of Ohio 613, when it failed to yield to a van driven west on that highway by Sgt. Chris Dilling, 45, of the sheriff's department, the highway patrol at Van Wert said in a statement.
Dilling was transporting eight inmates for the county jail, the statement said.
Rolston was not injured, and was cited for failure to yield, the highway patrol said.
It said Dilling and five of the inmates were treated at Paulding County Hospital and released. The three other inmates were not injured and were taken to the county jail.
The drivers and one uninjured inmate were wearing seat belts, the highway patrol said. It said other inmates in the van were not.
The crash remains under investigation, the highway patrol said.
