Barstow, CA : Woman, 3 children injured after a two-vehicle collision at the Avenue H and West main Street on Wednesday afternoon, May 25, 2016

A mother and her three small children were transported to Barstow Community Hospital on Wednesday afternoon with minor injuries following a two-vehicle collision at the Avenue H and West main Street intersection.

Barstow police responded to the collision just before 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday and found both vehicles blocking the eastbound lanes at the intersection. One was overturned. Police said a woman traveling westbound in a 2005 Ford Taurus was in the center turn lane to make a left turn onto Avenue H. The Taurus attempted to complete the turn but failed to yield to an eastbound 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck.

Police said the man driving the pickup truck unsuccessfully attempted to avoid the collision by applying his brakes and turning to the left. Both vehicles sustained major damage. The pickup truck overturned but the man was not transported to a hospital and only complained of shoulder and arm pain, authorities said.

Police said the woman driving the Ford, and her three small children, were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
