A 20-year-old Millsboro man was killed in a crash June 30 on Route 24 near Rock Pile Way.

Corey A. Burton was driving a 2004 Ford Mustang westbound on Route 24 at 4:40 a.m. when he crossed the center lane and drove into oncoming traffic, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

A 2013 Isuzu six-wheel box truck driven by Justin B. Baldwin, 35, of Salisbury, Md., was heading eastbound and Baldwin swerved right to avoid the Mustang but the vehicles collided head-on in the eastbound lane, Fournier said.

After the impact, Fournier said, the Mustang rotated clockwise and stopped on the westbound shoulder; the box truck continued east and stopped off the eastbound shoulder.

Burton was not properly restrained and he was partially ejected from his car. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Fournier said.

Baldwin was properly restrained and uninjured.

Route 24 between Maryland Camp Road and William Street Road was closed for about four hours.
