Fort Wayne, IN : Driver killed in single-vehicle crash on Saturday, February 25th 2017
A northern Indiana man has died after the vehicle he was driving left a Noble County road Saturday night, overcorrected, hit a small wetland and rolled several times, the county sheriff’s department said.
Michial P. Thompson II, 39, of Wakarusa, was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where he later died, the sheriff’s department said.
Police said Thompson was driving east on County Road 1100 North, near County Road 500 West, about 9 p.m. when he drove off the road. Police said they found the vehicle half-submerged and an unresponsive driver near it.
The crash remains under investigation.
A Van Wert County man was injured Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash on Ohio 637 near Oakwood, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Police at Van Wert said Scott W. Rhoades, 46, of Middle Point, was traveling south on the highway near Ohio 613 about 11:15 p.m. when his car went off the left side of the road, re-entered the road, went off the right side and struck a ditch.
Rhoades was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Police said he was wearing an automatic shoulder strap seat belt, but not the lap portion.
