Aiken, SC : Man driving stolen car killed in crash near Wagener on Wednesday afternoon, July 27, 2016

A single vehicle crash near Wagener Wednesday afternoon has resulted in the death of a 51-year-old man.

David Jerome Williams was driving a stolen 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup truck on Bethcar Church Road, near Kennedy Road, at a high rate of speed, when he lost control of the vehicle, overturned and was partially ejected around 4:30 p.m., according to a statement provided by Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

Carlton said Williams died from multiple body trauma.

Williams was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, Carlton said.

How Williams came to possess the stolen vehicle is unclear at this time, however, the car was reported stolen to the Aiken Department of Public Safety by its owner, according to Carlton.
