Torrance, CA : Motorcyclist died after a fatal crash on Carson Street approaching Halldale Avenue on Thursday, March 31, 2016

A 27-year-old Los Angeles man who died when his motorcycle rear-ended a car stopped at a Harbor Gateway pedestrian crosswalk was identified Friday.

David Olney sustained severe head injuries when he flew off his motorcycle, hit a car in the next lane, and landed in the left-turn lane, according to Los Angeles Police Department and coroner’s officials.

Olney was traveling on Carson Street approaching Halldale Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday when the crash occurred, said LAPD South Traffic Lt. Chuck Springer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
