Iowa City, IA : Two people injured after being struck by a car near Kinnick Stadium on Tuesday, Sep 29, 2015
Two people were injured Tuesday after being struck by a car near Kinnick Stadium and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 45-year-old Michelle Mleczewski was driving south on Hawkins Drive around 5 p.m. when she struck two people walking in a crosswalk at Melrose Avenue.
Officials said Mleczewski possibly suffered a medical issue when she hit the pedestrians.
The victims have been identified as Anthony Knight, 59, and Peggy Knight, 49. Both were transported to the nearby University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Their conditions have not been released.
KCRG-TV reports that the impact shattered multiple windows on the car and caused extensive damage to the windshield. A shoe and a watch were found a ways away from the point of impact.
