VOLO, IL : 18-year-old killed after crash on US Route 12, north of Case Road on Wednesday, 31st July 2019

An 18-year-old woman was killed in a rollover accident Wednesday, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened just around 7:15 a.m. on US Route 12, north of Case Road.

Police said the woman was driving a 2000 GMC pickup truck, carrying a sealcoating tank. She was traveling northbound on Route 12 and veered off the east side of the road. She over-corrected the vehicle, sending the vehicle skidding into the median where it rolled over into the southbound lanes.

She was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
