The N.C. Highway Patrol has charged a woman in connection with an accident in which four cyclists were struck by a car in Johnston County.
A statement from the patrol on Thursday said 50-year-old Donnie Marie Williams of Angier faces multiple charges, including reckless driving to endanger and improper passing resulting in serious injury.
Lt. Jeff Gordon said last weekend that a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria approached the four cyclists from the rear Saturday afternoon and hit them, throwing them from their bikes.
Gordon said the cyclists were taken to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh with what was described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
