Newport News,VI : Man dies in Hampton car crash on morning on September, Monday 11th 2017

A man died during a single vehicle crash around 7:45 a.m. in Hampton, according to a Hampton Police Department news release.

The crash happened near the intersection of Big Bethel Road and West Lewis Road when a man was driving a white Chevy van. The intial investigation revealed the victim was traveling southbound when he lost control and hit a utility pole and fire hydrant, according to Cpl. Ashley Jenrette.

The Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue took the victim to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Jenrette said.
