WORCESTER, MA : 31-year-old Lawrence woman killed in I-290 Worcester crash on Saturday, 22nd September 2018

A 31-year-old Lawrence woman died early Saturday morning from injuries she sustained in two-vehicle crash on Interstate 290.

State police said the accident occurred on I-290 eastbound, just prior to Exit 22, at around 2:30 a.m.

According to a preliminary investigation done by Trooper Antwan Haywood, the woman, who was driving a 2017 Honda Civic, rear-ended a Ford F-350 pickup truck that was towing a car carrier.

As a result of the collision, the operator of the Honda and her two passengers, a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, also both from Lawrence, were entrapped.

State police have identified the person who died as Ilianes Rentas of Lawrence.

Members of the Worcester Fire Department extricated all three from the vehicle and they were then transported to UMass Medical Center, where the operator was subsequently pronounced deceased, according to state police.

The operator of the pickup truck was uninjured, state police said.
