Dodge County, WI : Inattentive driving cited in multiple-vehicle crash in Highway 33 Tuesday about 6.51 a.m June 24th 2014.
A 19-year-old woman from Mayville was driving westbound on state Highway 33 west of Sunset Road in the Town of Oak Grove when her vehicle crossed the center line about 6:51 a.m., according to a news release from the Dodge County sheriff's office.
After crossing the center line, the vehicle side swiped a 27-year-old Beaver Dam man's vehicle before striking another eastbound vehicle driven by a 31-year-old Beaver Dam man.
The 27-year-old was not injured, but the second collision was nearly head-on and resulted in severe damage to the two vehicles involved and pinned the drivers inside. Several emergency departments reported to the scene of the crash, officials said.
After extrication the injured drivers were taken to Beaver Dam Community Hospital. Flight for Life later transferred the man to University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, according to the release.
Officials believe inattentive driving was a factor in the crash. There was also dense fog at the time of the crash.
