Wilmington, NC : A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash

A woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday on East Main Street in Spartanburg.

Cathy Elaine McAbee, 60, of Main Street in Converse, died at the scene, Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said.

Two passengers in McAbee’s car and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital System for treatment, according to a Spartanburg Police Department statement.

The crash occurred around 10:30 a.m. in front of the Walmart on East Main Street, Spartanburg Police said.

A 1997 Mercury that was exiting a property collided with a 2005 Chevrolet SUV that was traveling east on East Main Street, police said. The collision caused the SUV to cross the two westbound lanes and hit a tree, according to the statement.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed, police said.
